A Journey That Taught Me to Slow Down
Traveling sustainably to my Erasmus destination was not just about getting from one place to another, it was about redefining what travel means to me. Choosing to take the bus from Würzburg to Leuven turned what could have been a short, ordinary transfer into a long, meaningful journey of reflection.
The quiet hours on the road gave me space to breathe, think, and observe. I watched landscapes change, cities fade into fields, and felt myself slowly moving from one chapter of life into another. It reminded me that sustainability is more than reducing emissions; it is a way of living with awareness and gratitude.
As someone living with Multiple Sclerosis, slowing down is not a limitation, it is a lesson. A direct bus meant less stress and more connection with my surroundings. When I finally arrived in Leuven, I did not feel like I had just reached a destination, I felt present, grounded, and ready.
This experience showed me that mindful travel has the power to change how we see the world and ourselves. Sometimes the slowest journeys are the ones that move us the most.
