Everyone told me not to study in Mexico as a 19-year-old girl. And yet, deep down, I felt that Mexico had something waiting for me.
I discovered breathtaking landscapes, stunning beaches, waterfalls, and ancient pyramids. I met friends who will be part of my life forever.
But above all, I discovered a country, and a continent, that suffers from a negative reputation despite its extraordinary culinary, cultural, and natural richness. I was amazed by the kindness of the Mexican people. They made me feel at home, even 10,000 km away from my own.
I was deeply moved by the dedication of both the professors and the students. I was inspired by the way Mexicans turned every event into a celebration, by their sense of solidarity, and by the pride they have in their country. This international mobility transformed me.
Mexico deserves to be discovered beyond the stereotypes, and I'm grateful to be able to share my experience of what was, without a doubt, the best year of my life.
