Italy has always had a special place in my heart. Ever since I was in Panama and first learned about Italy, I’ve been fascinated by it. I saw how beautiful the country is, how impressive its history and landmarks are, and how kind the people are. Later, when I came to Germany, I happened to meet many very good Italian friends who were doing their Erasmus in Karlsruhe at the time. Even before I had officially started my studies, while I was still preparing everything, I had already decided that I wanted to do my Erasmus in Italy. And now the moment finally came.
After having lived in Turin for a whole semester, I couldn't be happier to say that it became home to me. I could indeed live the Italian lifestyle that I've always liked, learning so much about the culture along the process and visiting so many astonishing places in the country. Not only that, but I could also learn about so many other countries. I've always been fascinated by the international side of the studies, and this Erasmus program and the ESN Torino really helped me get so in touch with that side as well, with so many enjoyable events to connect the international students. Not only did my Italian became better, but I could learn a bit of so many other languages and traditions. No day would pass without me learning something new. Speaking of which, the Politecnico di Torino helped a lot in this. The university really lived up to the standards, teaching me so much during the semester as well, including practical lessons, which I always appreciate a lot. I chose Turin because many of my Italian friends studied there and told me a lot about the university. Many of my friends studied mechanical engineering there and strongly recommended the program.
I always referred to my Erasmus in Turin as my canon event, since I really believed it was something that needed to happen. After all, I had dreamed of it for many years, like I mentioned, even before I officially started my bachelor, and now I can say that it lived up to the expectations. I'm so happy I could manage to have this experience. I left my new home Torino very sad and happy at the same time. Sad that this amazing experience came to an end, but rejoicing about all of the amazing lessons, experiences, and people I met. I'll continue my journey in Germany motivated by these moments, always remembering with joy all of the friends I now have in Polito, in the ESN, in Torino, and in the whole world, eagerly waiting for the moment when we meet again!
