In Sweden, many eating places offer a salad bar while you wait for the dish you ordered, whereas in Leuven the campus restaurants get you an extra plate of fries if you aren't stuffed yet. I may sound unpatriotic, but the Swedish way was a lot more tasty and healthier!
Personally, I wasn't that impressed actually by the 'sustainability' of Gothenburg or Sweden in general, which may be due to the fact that I worked in a biomedical research lab, where being super mindful about using resources and energy is less of a priority. I'm sure the waste bins were taken care of tough!
A small regret I have is never really getting a biking experience of the city and surroundings; the tram/bus service is amazing and nature really is nearby, but 2 wheels would have taken me further away and quicker than my feet could...
Lastly, I would recommend being honest about trying to pick up some Swedish on Duolingo; English is very prevalent and you might interact more with other internationals than actual Swedes anyway! So if you already have a head start in languages like German, Italian or Indian, continuing with those might be the way to go!
