Future Leaders Exchange FLEX
FLEX (Future Leaders Exchange) is a program that started in 1993-1994 and was founded by former Senator Bill Bradley. The program was established with the goal of promoting peace and mutual understanding between the U.S. and countries in Eurasia by allowing young people to learn about the U.S. and Americans and educating Americans about their cultures.
The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program provides students with an opportunity to gain leadership skills, learn about American society and values, and act as ambassadors of their home countries while in the U.S. Participants perform community service, share their own culture and are
inspired to develop projects back home using skills and ideas they gained while on the program. FLEX students are described as naturally curious and enthusiastic global citizens.
FLEX is a highly competitive, merit-based scholarship program funded by the U.S. Department of State. The program provides a scholarship for selected students to spend one academic year in the United States, where they will live with a host family and attend a U.S. high school. The program is highly competitive, with over 35,000 students competing annually through multiple rounds of testing to earn the scholarship.
