- filled out registration as a postal voter
- a valid Romanian passport or identity card.
Once the request for postal voting is approved, the voter receives a ballot paper which needs to be signed before mailing. This signature is required to verify voters' identity and to ensure that the vote is counted.

European Parliament elections
Romanian citizens residing abroad can vote in person at any polling station organized abroad, if they have the right to vote. They have to register in supplementary electoral lists, and besides the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania, one or more polling stations may also be organized, includin in localities other than those in which the diploatic missions or consular posts are located.
